EZ pharm project

Proving authenticity of folding boxes along the pharmaceutical supply chain

Counterfeiting particularly concerns the pharmaceutical industry. In addition to the economic damage caused to manufacturers of the original preparations, the fraudulent copying of pharmaceutical products can introduce serious medical safety risks for patients.

By funding the EZ pharm project as one out of 10 research projects against counterfeiting, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports the development of a continuously inspected and protected process chain for the pharmaceutical sector. The main objective of the project was to develop a concept preventing the distribution of pharmaceutical counterfeits and proving it by implementing RFID-tags into the pharmacy packaging.
